I've done the searches... here is the deal...

I leave on American Airlines tomorrow from Dallas, TX to Baton Rouge, LA for a duck hunt and want to take my little GSG22 pistol... no problems there. The question is regarding my rimfire suppressor.

The form 5320.20 is for firearms and honestly, since I don't have time to send it in and get a return, this is not an option.

Question #1 is Louisiana NFA compliant?
Question #2 do I need to do anything special to fly with my suppressor?

I've flown with firearms a bunch and have no issues. Can I slip my suppressor in my Pelican pistol case along with the stamp/trust information and not worry about it?

Thanks!

Thanks Wiley, I just posted it there as well. I've tried to call the Baton Rouge ATF Field Office several times but just get a machine.

Re: Conflicting Answers... Travel with Suppressor

Wrap the suppressor in the paperwork and you have to declare it like a weapon. So if you are flying with a rifle don't worry about it just put it in the case, but if you are flying with just the suppressor declare it as a firearm.

But I fly with suppressor all the time, simply wrap it up in a copy of the paperwork and drive on. For short trips you don't have to say anything else, no extra paperwork is necessary.

Savy instructions, section a.

Yes my FFL was wrong - the Section a instructions reference almost every NFA item EXCEPT suppressors:

"A written request and prior authorization from ATF to transport interstate or in foreign commerce any destructive device, machinegun, short-barreled
rifle, or short-barreled shotgun is required under the provisions of Section 922 (a)(4), Title 18, U.S.C., and Section 478.28, Title 27, CFR, a letter of
request, in duplicate, containing all information required on this form, may be submitted in lieu of the form."

Thanks for the clarification.
