Rifle = Rem 308 20", I would be happy to shoot to 600-700yrd

I have been reading until I blue in the face and am asking your recommendations

Lets say I have $1400 for a scope and have been looking at mark4's because I like the illumination option.
What others should I look at for the money. I dont think I can afford a NF.

Second I know Badger's and Seekins are bad ass; what can I get that will work good and wont get made fun of? rings and bases

Store or website recomendation that have good customer service for a New guy.

Thanks

Re: Confused on what to do

Warne makes a great base and rings for not much money. I have heard good things about EGW, but not tried them.

Leupold is popular to bash currently, but I have had bunches of them and think they are the best scope for the buck. Especially for around $1K. Talk to Scott at Liberty Optics. He can get you into a model 60000, for a great price. They are an awesome optic.

Re: Confused on what to do

leupold's are decent. lots like to bash them but they are solid. now on the next note it depends on what nightforce your looking for. i am pretty sure for 1500 you can get a nightforce 2.5-10 or a 1-4. if you got 1500 and have the option go for the nightforce much better glass and a good bit better built IMO. call alex at euro optiks. he will square you away. i just bought a brand new mil/mil w/ mildot reticle and zero stop 1-4 for 1400 shipped. or watch the classified ads there is usually some deals there

Re: Confused on what to do

This is what I would get:

A US Optics MOA reticule/ MOA knobs or Mil reticule/ Mil Knobs, Red or Green Rheostat, Ergo upgrade, 44mm objective. Here is a quote directly from the website

ST-1000
# Base price $945
# ERGO Upgrade - 200.00
# 44mm Low Profile - Standard Option
# U.S. #1 1/10 MIL - Standard Option
# U.S. #1 1/10 MIL - Standard Option
# No Tube selected.
# Matte Black Type III Hard Anodizing - Standard Option
# Mil-Dot - Standard Option
# 11 Pos Rheostat (Red) - 185.00
# Lo Profile Housing - Standard Option
# Rapid Focus - Standard Option

Grand Total : $1330

This would be a much better choice over the Leupold Mark 4 IMHO.

Oh and as for the rings and mount, get the Badgers, Seekins, TPS, Farrell--they are all good. As for the Mark 4 they may be good, one of the best values is Burris XTR. And whatever you get unless you are getting some 56mm+ objective monster you can pretty much guaranteed to stay with the low rings.

Re: Confused on what to do

$1400 the limit?

If so, there are some real good options for you.

1. A fixed 6x or 10x new
2. Get the Seekins base and low 30mm rings
3. Or buy a nice used rifle scope.

If I was going fixed power, these are on my top list.

1. USO ST-10
2. USO ST-6
3. IOR 6

Honestly, for the distance you want to shoot at, a fixed 6x or 10x will not hurt you at all. All of these are with in your price range and are great optics to get.

If you can go $1400 + mounts, the IOR 3-18x42 form liberty optics hand down is the ticket for you. All you need to buy is a Seekins base due to the IOR comes with free rings.

Good advice here. Seen 3.5-15s down in the $1100-1200 range which leave plenty for Seekins rings and base.

Re: Confused on what to do

I'm with gszeto99 on the Burris XTR being a great value! If you don't want to buy used or go over your budget they are definitely worth taking a look at.

SWFA Super Sniper scopes are a great bang for the buck also but you can afford a bit more than their $400 price tag.

Personally, I'd keep watching the for sale section here, and on any other sites you may be on, because I'm sure you'll be able to find an excellent deal on top quality glass like NF, USO, or the like.

Re: Confused on what to do

Take your time and find a good used NF, mabey if your lucky with rings. You wont regret it in the long run. Personally I prefer my NF to the USO which I sold.
