Considering 10/22 build

I just bought a S&W MP 15-22 last week so that will take the place of the 10/22. I'm thinking of doing a build with the 10/22. What are considered really good barrels for these? I've read good things about GM and Kidd.

I will be going with the B%C target/varmint stock. Do many people buy a new receiver when doing a build?? Just wondering since I've seen them on some sites.

Lastly, I think there is a replacement trigger kit for around 40.00 or something? I would just like to re-do the stock trigger instead of buying a new one unless there's a really good one for not too much $$

So, just wondering what barrels you guys have had good luck with and some trigger options for the build.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Re: Considering 10/22 build

Thanks! I was unaware of these. Looks like this may be the route I go. All I would need is the B&C stock and would be G2G. Have you purchased any of thesse? Just curious of the quality/accuracy.

Thanks,

Alan

Re: Considering 10/22 build

Before you buy the B&C stock (very nice stock), check out the tacticool stocks on Boyds for about half the price. There are a couple of threads about it in this sections.

I built a 10/22 on a KID barrel a month or two ago. The KID barrels are really nice. Two 10-shot groups at 100 yards w/5-10mph variable half value wind using Wolf Match Extra:

dont do it man. it all starts with one. then you have two. now i have three. 600-800 in a 10/22 is just crazy. not as crazy as 1200-1800 in a 10/22. sell it and run away.

but if you do go that way, i just bought a whistle pig lightweight barrel, and man the thing is light. the rifle is really nice too. i used the tacticool stocks (A5ish looking) from boyds. i love the lighter weight than compared to the heavy 0.920" steel ones i have. check out rimfire central and there are some 10/22 boards too im sure. if you are just going to buy power custom or volquartsen trigger parts you may want to send your stuff to someone to do a trigger job. might be cheaper than the aftermarket parts and give similar results. the totally cool way to go is KIDD. $$$$$, but worth it from what everybody says. have fun, set a limit for spending and read the info over on RFC and you should be ok.

but remember i warned you, lol

Haha, thanks! I'm not sure if I wanna go the KIDD route, or just buy the whole thing minus stock from brownells. That would be the easiest way but I was hoping someone might have a range report for those.

Anyways, I keep saying I'm done buying rifles then something else comes to mind..this is like a disease hahaha

I'm single right now so this is the time to get everything I want. Just got a really good paying job too. One more then I'm done........maybe.. lol
