Sidearms & Scatterguns considering a purchase on a 1991 sig 226 with K-KOTE

title says it all.

i did a quick google search, and came up with conflicting reports. the people that didn't like side the k-kote flakes off.

does anyone have any indepth knowledge?

I armored 65 or so of them from 1987-1995 as a PD duty weapon.
Never had an issue with the K-kote. Hard use guys would get some shiny spots in the same places a blue gun would get them.
Replaced some springs and some grip screws, an extractor or two.
Tremendously reliable duty sidearm.
I would carry a P226 or P220 today without hesitation.

i ended up going with a '92 that is just blued. the pics seam to have shown less wear and tear. not as many handling marks.

we will see next wednesday when it gets here.
