Considering upgrading from SRS-A1 to the A2 Covert...which 2 calibers would you choose?

I'm considering upgrading from my current SRS-A1 in 6.5 Creed (shoots unbelievably well) to an A2 to drop weight for a more versatile platform. 2 questions:

1. Would you upgrade based on your experience with the A2 Covert?
2. Which 2 calibers would you purchase for long range, competition, and hunting? I love 6.5 but recognize the competition value of 6mm. 300 win mag is legendary for large game but I also like the 7mm for long range versatility.

If you are in Utah and want to meet up to shoot an A2 I'm all in!

Answers:

1. I have no experience with this particular rifle, so can't comment as to whether it's worth the upgrade.

2. On the caliber thing I'm able to throw my $.02 into the ring.

I had my current 300 PRC chambered in 300 WM for a while. It does pretty well, though looking at their web page, the stock 300 WM comes with a 1-10 twist. Depending on where you shoot and what you shoot, that may be on the low side. Out of what they list (standard A2), the 300 NM would be my choice for a thumper. You can shoot the big 30 cal bullets with it, no problem. Then the 6.5 would be choice #2. The only other "smaller" choice is the .308. I'll be getting one probably later this year when things calm down, but only because I don't have one, and I'd kind of like to participate in F/TR matches. The 6.5 is a better choice if you can only have one.

Interesting - I've never even heard of a 6GT? I'll have to research that one...

In reality, how is the recoil on the 300 Norma vs 300 Win Mag vs 7mm variants?

I'm reluctant to pick up a 338 lapua as I have 8 suppressors and none of them accommodate larger bore than 308.

Also, I'm not stuck on DTA factory production. I'm perfectly happy picking up something custom for the chassis.

Sorry to resurrect, but still looking at this. I have the 6.5 CM setup now and love it.

Realistically, how much does the recoil of the 300 NM suck compared to the 7 Mag or 300 Mag? It seems like an awesome caliber for 2000 yards and beyond.

Will be fitted with a Silencerco Omega so recoil mitigation wont be as good as a solid brake alone.

It’s not bad. I had a 27” 300 Norma barrel in my DT for awhile. Don’t get me wrong, you certainly know when you pull the trigger, but it’s tolerable. I have 300 prc barrel now and I’d say the Norma recoil was the same, maybe a smidge more. All subjective though.

This is actually great news - I'd love to push a high BC 300 projectile but am admittedly recoil shy. I'm guessing 300 PRC is similar in energy to the Norma Magnum but will confirm.
