all over
I was curious if any chamber guys had an insight on this. I know this is unorthodox in the process but Ive been working with a straight taper 65 barrel. Truck axle contour 1.200. knocked a few chambers into it and threaded the muzzle. Its a shooter of a pipe for being a cheap blank. Im considering keeping it on an action just for giggles. Issue I have is the contour doesn't offer a lot of breathing room in the chassis.

I did indicate and clock the barrel into the action,, If I take it out and contour between centers. say give it a 1" finish contour at the muzzle then a straight taper back to 1.200 at the chamber end, will I be affecting the natural curve and then change the timing of the barrel?

Im willing to test this I was just wondering if anything has contoured after chambering

Thanks

Ok, I have chambered my own in the past. I have never contoured one.
A few points.

If the blank is long, when you are contouring you may develop a bubble part way if you can't hold it rigid depending on force applied at tip of tool.

A barrel is a pretty long surface for most hobby guys to get a good surface finish on.

The real answer is you won't know until you try.

The less you take off the less affect it is LIKELY to have.
