I have a older Christensen Arms CA15 Recon. It’s a 16” piston gun, adams arms piston system I believe, with a rather short rail. It also has a carbon fiber wrapped almost bull profile barrel. The gun shoots amazingly accurate, but I hate the short rail for many reason. Thinking of converting to DI so I can put a longer hand guard, basically is my primary reason. I know since it’s a bull barrel profile my rail selection might be limited. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Has anyone ever done this? Foreseeable issues? Thanks

I'm thinking about doing just the opposite to my ar-308. How much room does your piston need? Seems like when I was looking into this stuff a while back, my lancer rail would allow for it just like my gasblock fits inside my rail now???

It needs a LOT. Not sure exactly but I could measure. The piston gas block is almost the same diameter of the rail. I’ll try and upload pics later.

Wonder if you could get a slimmer piston gas block? Not sure about what available in that but, I'd look at that before I'd lose the piston. My lancer rail has good room and I like the longer rail so I covered my block, even though it's adjustable. It's not difficult to do with a longer Allen key

Very true but it’s a short stroke piston system...I think they are all too big to fit under a rail.
