So is it possible to convert a standard AR-15,with the delta ring /gas piston setup, to accept a free float barrel? I would love to place a Samson Evo 9EX forend on one with the 4in. extension. I would love to place it on this Huldra Arms 5.45x39.

Sweet, but could you explain exactly what you mean. I'm a little confused.

Re: Converting standard AR-15 to free float?

If you look at the pic in the link I posted you will see 2 "ears" that extend from the FF tube back towards the receiver. You can see where they rubbed the upper. Depending on your receiver you may have to trim them or cut them off.

As far as the swap goes, the standard delta ring and nut get pulled off and are replaced with the nut under the FF tube then the FF tube is slipped over and locked down. Standard swap.

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Converting standard AR-15 to free float?

the gas block hits the hand guard, its not truly "free float in my opinion.

the low profile gas blocks that fit in the hand guard and does not touch is closest to free float i can see.

Re: Converting standard AR-15 to free float?

A proper free float tube nothing than rear hand guard, at the receive ring.

The barrel, FBS, gas block float at the rear of the barrel.

The receiver is LH (Stag, DPMS).
