I want a range/varmint rifle in 223 and the cooper model 21 phoenix caught my eye. From what i've heard these are great rifles but id like to hear any stories or input from you guys.

Re: cooper model 21?

I have five M22's and a M57. All are good solid shooters. They are fairly lightweight rifles as far as varminters go. Triggers are straight forward and easy to adjust to a pound or so. I dont hesitate to reccomend to to others.

I have a M22 Phoenix in in 6mm Remington and I love it. Shoots 1/2 MOA or better with good loads. It's light and easy to carry in the field. One of my favorite rifles and a relative bargain at the price, IMO.

Re: cooper model 21?

I have a couple Montana Varminters that I used to whack groundhogs with. A .17 Remington and a 6MM Br. Since getting a TRG last summer, the Coopers aren't getting out like they used to. They are easy to load for, have pretty decent triggers and are pleasing to look at. The .17 is a solid 1/2 moa @ 100 yards and the 6mm br just puts them in the same hole (68 gr. head hunters). My only complaint with that one is that I can't get anything over 70 gr. to stabilize. I think that one has a 1 in 12 or 1 in 14 twist. I also have a 6.5 284 sitting in the box that will be going on gun broker soon.
