Not only does that image offer a stark reminder that even if there are other civilizations in just our galaxy, we're not going to be in contact any time soon. Even if the galaxy were full of advanced civilizations, it would be exceedingly rare for them to exist at that stage at the same time. Still, we should keep looking![]()
Looks like to me we live in a fairly unpopulated and remote part of the galaxy. I'd say we are all cosmic rednecks. Explains a lot.
It's also the safer neck of the woods. If we were further in towards the galactic core, life would have a much better chance of being wiped out by nearby supernovae, gamma ray bursts or other lethal, yet common, cosmic occurrences.
So than.....how did they get the camera so far away to take the picture and radio the data back to earth?![]()
