I'm a fairly decent machinist, have my own lathe and the ability to cut threads to match those of the econo can. This is legal right since the econo can adapter is the part that is on a form 3 right? I would really like a suppressor, but don;t have the money to buy one. Anyone see any problems with this? Thanks

I'd check with an NFA savvy lawyer before proceeding further. From what I've read, I don't think converting the econo-can would be legal. You'd probably be better off getting a form one approved and building your own can. Lots of info on Silencer Talk ,too.

Second that. I thought about it pretty hard myself. I would start out with a .22 can out of aluminum to get the science down. Then move to more exotic alloys. It's going to be pretty hard to make one that has all four properties for the class of can: compact, lightweight, good sound reduction, does not degrade accuracy
