well, i got a few bricks of ammo (manufacturer not mentioned until i see what the response is from them) that will not eject when fired (sometimes without firing) and has on average 3 misfires per 10 rounds, and some are damn near impossible to chamber. tried them through 2 different rifles, it does the same in both. other ammo works fine.

i've never had a problem with this ammo until now, just may be a fluke. but since i've never had a problem before, i threw away the boxes and sales (can't get the manufacturer's lot #'s).

anyhow, what makes this worse is that since i never had a problem with them before, i weight sorted them out and integrated the new bricks into my existing stock (stupid me, trying to save space in my ammo boxes).

BAD MOVE! now i have around 1350 rounds with about 750 rounds sprinkled in that may or may not fire and may or may not eject. the only thing i could do is cycle every one through the action and hopefully can get most of the non ejectors out.

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">SO HERE ARE A FEW LESSONS TO PASS ALONG WHEN BUYING AMMO</span></span>:

DON'T BE STUPID LIKE ME

1. when getting a new brick or two, keep them seperated from your known "good" ammo in case there is a problem.

2. save whatever documentation you have on the ammo, boxes, receipts, etc. until that brick is exhausted.

3. try not to integrate all your ammo together (new and old), but if you do, make sure you sample test the new stuff first so you don't "infect" existing stock.

4. no matter how much time you think you don't have, make the time to do things properly the first time - you may be paying for it later.

again it may just be a fluke, i just emailed the manufacturer today to see if any satisfaction could be reached. of course it's going to be tough to get any as i failed to keep documentation on the ammo from the manufacturer and distributor (stupid me). more to come if i get a response and if i don't.....but the tips above will help stop this from happening with any ammo and any way you may keep it in storage.

Attempting to shoot the SH long range rimfire comps today, i got real frustrated and quit halfway through, so i may not be posting a score for awhile. just had to vent a little.

Damn, TP!

You have had a rough run of luck lately with BAD rimfire ammo between this lot that won't fire/eject and your 40gr hunting loads that were not charged with any powder!

Anyway, good notes from your experiences...I'm just sorry about all the troubles you keep having. I hope you get some satisfaction from the mfg!

Re: Couple bricks of bad ammo!

Look at the box ends that has bad ammo. It should have a lot number on it either on the inside if not on the outside. Lapua punch stamps not ink stamp so if it's Lapua you may have to hold the box show light hits it just right to see the letter/numbers. After know the lot number go trough the rest of the ammo and pull out all of that lot number. Just saying.

He can't hardly check the lot numbers on boxes he no longer has.

Not to mention the way I read it, he integrated the new ammo supply into his existing supply shell by shell and they don't lot number stamp the shells.

Re: Couple bricks of bad ammo!

My mistake, I was thinking outside box on a brick of 500. Sounds like bulk stuff after I re-read it. I'm at a lost for this problem. I don't think you could mike the ammo and find the bad ones, even if you wanted to. You might clean the chamber really hard. Maybe some carbon or gunk in there. You might get lucky and things start working.

Re: Couple bricks of bad ammo!

i originally thought it was gunk, but the other ammo chambered fine and ejected - no problems.

i will give the whole thing a good scrubbing anyhow and see what happens.

yeah, between this episode and the 40gr 22 mag ammo problems, i'm pretty frustrated to say the least.

no response to my email from the manufacturer yet.

Re: Couple bricks of bad ammo!

Because of your last weighing ammo thread I finally got off my a** and started weighing ammo this sunday morning.
No results yet because my last trip to the range the wind was
to gusty to test ammo.
Good luck with all that mixed ammo and thanks for the heads up.
