All,
I have a friend who works at the U of A that sent me this. Retention Working Group
Apparently we have been offending some of the students by referring to them (they, them, it) as Freshmen. We are supposed to refer to them as 'first year students'. I asked what I would call them if they didn't achieve enough semester hours to become a 'Sophomore' by their second year. I would have in the past referred to them a 'Freshmen'. Maybe now I should refer to them as 'second year first year students', or 'maybe first year plus students', I just don't know.
The it goes on to call out 'non-traditional students' which in the past would have been students outside the 18-24 year old demographic. It goes on to say these students are becoming the norm. If that's the case, then the 18-24 group would then become the 'non-traditional' by definition. We are supposed to refer to these old farts as 'Post Traditional', I prefer Old Fart, call me 'Old Fashioned'... speaking of which, I'm thirsty.
My friend then went on to say none of the signators would be making less than $100k. That means we, as taxpayers, spent over $2.6 MM in salaries on these bafoons, sorry 'reality challenged primates'.
I really wish they would have included the email addresses so we would have a way to reach out to these folks.
