I keep getting responses related to deep seeded hatred toward law enforcement in general. I may feel the same way but announcing it would only show bias and would limit my responses as such. Like it or not we live in a society of law and order. Just taking the necessary precautions without limiting your freedom will reduce your chances of getting into an armed fight to a minimum. Why do you suppose that is?
That there is kind of a sad fact of what our society has become thanks to a lack of proper accountability.
I'd probably suggest that most of the decent freedom loving types understand that generally there has to be law and order & that it's useful to hire people "police" to help keep things on the law and order side (I'd suggest it's actually to the benefit of the criminals to have "police" as the local citizen's vigilante justice league might be a bit harsher on them and less interested in the whole courtroom ideas).
I would even bet that if you went back a decade or two ago, you'd probably find most of the people the most vocal about the problems with "law enforcement" currently, were probably in the camp of solid supporters for the most part of "law enforcement"
I'm not really sure what a workable idea is to fix it given the way we are often in huge big evil cities or places. It seems the more crowded places get, the easier it is for the rot to set in at all levels & the harder it is to get rid of the corruption. I'm not however convinced that the problem is "organic". I'm a bit more inclined to believe that it's part of a plan to get people upset enough about the "Police" to accept and even worse idea of some national stormtroopers controlled from DC that supposedly will "fix" the problem.
When our average warnings to relatives for holidays basically go "Watch out for crazy drivers & the Police looking to pad the city budgets" as both the same level of danger & occurrence, you know it's a systemic problem & not without cause.
When many good freedom loving folks are honestly equally (or more so) worried about being gunned down by "law enforcement" than actual criminals / terrorists (which I think quite a few people are, since many well armed, intelligent people are pretty well set to fight it out with a criminal & have a better than even chance of winning). You have to give some serious thought to what has happened to cause that change in public perception.
Even if it never happens to you, if you see it all over the news each day, it gets hard to ignore & will shape your opinions.
I don't think that many law enforcement types fully appreciate that a lot of people see right though various departments and their dress up displays of power pointing guns at terrified victims and acting all tough when the killing is all done and they finally come out of their hiding places & it only breeds disgust and anger. Especially after other "law enforcement" types have totally let multiple warnings of someone about to do something go totally un followed up on almost like they wanted it to happen.
I may be wrong, but I also don't think that the average "law enforcement" officer really has a full clue of what decades of "policing for profit" have done to their public image & what even those that kind of support them, subconsciously think of them even if they don't say it.
I don't think either that most police officers fully understand how much recent high profile events such as the one where the police showed up to a "swatting" call and executed the innocent party "unfortunately" at his doorstep as soon as he opened the door to them & then NONE of the police involved were held accountable, has really changed the mood of what decent law abiding citizens think subconsciously and reflexively of the police in this country.
I guess in the end it's actually the fault of the public not having long ago figuratively strung up the politicians and the civil administrators as traitors and parasites that way too many have become. Too many people are a bit too comfortable with the bribes of free other people's stuff and we'll stop other people from doing what you don't like that those politicians and administrators toss around (again all paid for by other people's money, lives, freedom and labour) to allow any actual righting of the ship. We have way too many laws where there should be very few.
It would be interesting to see how things would change if we stopped thinking of the second amendment as a "right" but rather interpreted it as a "duty" and made it mandatory for all decent citizens and lawful permanent residents to be open carrying unless they had a license not to carry because they couldn't be trusted or couldn't physically carry. That might change the whole nature of crime and law enforcement for the better. Especially as the police would then have to understand the public are all just as armed or better armed at all times than them & are not Subjects, victims or such, but rather possible first responders, and their partners and backup in defending against criminals. I can just see the SJWs and the Communists howling from the rooftops. But if you made it illegal to hire someone to protect you if you don't carry, or for politicians / rich to get special treatment from law enforcement and just get the same protection everyone else gets... they might shut up really quick.
