I'm looking for a good scope for coyote hunting and target shooting for around 300$ it will be going on a .243 I live in Alabama so shooting no more then 500 yards if that. any ideas are welcome

Thanks

Redfield ( now owned by Leupold) makes a pretty good 3x9x50 for a little over $200,Ive killed quite a few Coyotes ,and other vermin with mine...

I like my NF alot better though...

Nikon Coyote Special, is a scope designed for hitting targets on the move. However all of the "mil-dots" are open circles. Makes it really hard to Zero the rifle. But once you finally do get it zeroed, it is extremely accurate. But for a .243 maybe something like a Vortex Crossfire II

would the SWFA-SS 6x or 10x be a good scope for coyote they have the features I'm looking for but I'm not to sure about the fix scopes ?

Thanks

I would be leaning toward a fixed power at that price point. I like those Midway Weavers, but my first choice would be a fixed power with the best glass I could get.

The SS fixed scopes will be the most robust and have proven tracking. The midway Weaver has great glass and is variable, with a slight hit on ruggedness and customer service. For a $300 scope I recently needed, I went with the Leupold Mk AR 3-9x40 mil/mil. I think it's fairly rugged, light, nice low profile compact exposed turrets, and excellent warranty. My guess is the Weaver and SS have it beat optically, but barely. I like it more than I expected to. It's compatible with Leupold custom dial shop and comes with a default .223 bdc turret, which might be nice for coyote hunting.
