crappy paint job

OK, right away, I did this job myself, so if you opened the thread to see who was in the dog house this time... no worries LOL.

I attempted to do my stock in GAP Camo, wanted to do tan as the majority color because I have olive stock pack and black metal. Well I succeeded in that end, but I could have had more color than I do. I cut the stensils myself with blue painters tape, so I didn't have any of them as wide as they should have been. Also the edges of the tape didn't hold down perfectly, so there is some paint bleeding. Other than the overwhelming tan, it looks decent from a distance... I will definately try again and learn from these mistakes, think I am ready for some alumahyde next. Anyway here she is:

Just kidding Dave, looks better then any paint jobs I've ever done, don't be so hard on yourself.

Dont look bad at all. You can always put stencils on areas you want to touch up.
Side note. Between the brake, and the heavy barrel, whats the recoil like on that? I take it thats a .308?

very mild recoil. It is a .308. The thing hardly recoiled before, but the brake is very nice...

Not a horrible paint job...we've all gotta start somewhere...
you can still lay down some more stencils and tone that tan down a bit by dusting the whole thing with a darker color...like OD

Note...practice on a chunk of wood until you get the look you want...

Is a Broughton 7.8 contour... is very nice... Looks fatter because it is 20" too.

Yes, this is my first attempt at a camo pattern, I learned a ton already. I will likely pick up some pre-made stensils when I try with aluma-hyde. The vinyl should stick better and not lift like the painters tape too... so will probably be a ton happier next time.

Dave, thats the great thing about bedding or paint, it can always be re-done. The second attempt will be easier and look better.
