I recently bought a Remington 700P with a few add ons for a reasonable price. Jewell trigger, badger metal. the weak link is the barrel. It shoots sub-moa when i do the right thing, but only for about the first 6 rounds. then it gets so hot that you cant touch it and my groups start opening up. after about 10 consecutive rounds my groups open up to about 2 moa. and im not shooting as fast as i possibly can either. Im looking to replace the barrel on it with a better quality barrel and heavier contour. Im new to this so i dont know any good manufacturers or the processes that need to be done to a barrel to make it ready to shoot. Im familiar with the M24 and was really impressed with the barrel on it. would like to find something similar to it both with 5r rifling and the contour. any suggestions?
