Creedmoor sports T7 upgrade

A bit of a frustration rant here. I bought the T7 upgrade kit because why not, right? Maybe it would add a little improvement but certainly couldn’t hurt…

Well after taking the press apart and cleaning the surfaces, I installed the kit. Seemed to work fine after putting it all back together.

The next day I go to spin the turret head and it doesn’t lock up at all. I take it back apart and find that the ball has dropped down into the detent hole - I’m assuming the spring failed.

I bought a drill bushing and have tried to drill the ball as well as tried to use some epoxy to glue it to the bushing and pry it out. Nothing has worked so far and I feel like an idiot for not leaving well enough alone.

What's the ball made out of? Couple of random ideas: use a strong magnet if it's magnetic, or use a vacuum cleaner to try sucking it out (pull the ball from the bag).

Maybe Tig a rod to it for a pull handle

Tried both but I’m pretty sure it’s stainless

Yeah I saw this recommended online but I don’t have a welder unfortunately and I’m assuming taking this to a metal/machine shop will cost pretty close to a replacement. Maybe I’m wrong. I should at least call to confirm.

What about drilling a small angled hole under the ball and using compressed air or a punch to drive it out?

That’s likely my last resort before ordering something new.

With the epoxy and bushing, I was able to pull the ball back up to where it was breaking the plane but still couldn’t get it out. I’m guessing there is a burr or the “upgraded” ball is slightly oversized.
