Creedmore DBM system worth a crap?

I was looking at the Creedmoore website and saw THIS listed.

Says it's a pretty close to drop-in. I have a rifle that I want to convert to DBM (personal rifle), but hate that: A) the freaking DBM systems cost so fucking much (a good AR lower is 1/3 the cost, is the same material, and has more machining operations) and B) you have to send your stock to be inletted and hope nothing gets screwed up in the install, which isn't cheap either.

So, anyone got any gouge on this system?

Re: Creedmore DBM system worth a crap?

Simple: it's a "spare rifle" that I don't really want to spend $400 for a badger, then buy mags, then send it off to be inletted and end up being out $700. I'm poor, have a mean wife, needy kids, and have to pinch pennies.

Also, if it's a decent setup, why not give it a shot? I understand the higher end units are good (although way over-priced), but it's a little more of an investment than I want to make right now.

I have nothing to add but that was funny.

Like Thunderbolt said they all need fitting. Just more on some than others. You will also have to buy mags with the Creedmoor DBM. The Badger set up is $335 and comes with one mag as well. Not trying to sell you on it but just being clear for anyone else who is reading this thread that they aren't $400. There are other systems like CDI which are cheaper and take AI mags.

I would recommend sticking with a unit that takes AICS mags. Reliable, plentiful and if you forget a mag then more than likely someone will have one.

If you're pinching pennies and want to try an untested DBM, check out the atlasworxs DBM thread in the group buys section. Looks like a better price. Although I'm sure the Creedmore is good. I can't believe Creedmore would back something that didn't work!

I have a used Badger bottom metal, no mag, no actions scews but does include the pillars. If you are interested send me a PM, it is currently in a HS stock I put together.

I agree with Rob01 stick to bottom metals that work with AICS magazines. I have been running DBM systems since I started competing and they are excellent.

Re: Creedmore DBM system worth a crap?

Post up a WTB post. I got my Badger relatively cheap.

That said, since you are familiar with AR's I would have to recommend Seekins Precision, IMHO the best DBM floorplate out there. AICS mags and ambi AR-style mag release.

Fot me, AI style is less expensive because I run the same mags in all my rifles.

Price is market driven, there are less good DBMs than there are folks making AR lowers.

Re: Creedmore DBM system worth a crap?

I understand about being broke, I provide for my family, my wife is a full time mommy, with that being said

87.50 look like a Badger knock off

as for inletting its not hard to do, but it is time comsuming, I converted my PSS stock to Badger DBM, and it turned out great, a dremel and some Marine Tex and the confidence is all that is needed.

Re: Creedmore DBM system worth a crap?

If you want a US made version, there are plenty of options for less $$ than the badger, etc.

CDI comes in at just barely over $200, seekins has the push button AICS for just over $200 (buy it @ liberty optics), and Hooper's DBM is in the neighborhood of $200 as well. R&D precision is $230 without a mag and they have a couple of different latches to choose.

All are AICS compatible, and since there are half a dozen clone mags out there at good prices (plus the real deal AI), I fail to see why you'd want to get into a proprietary system these days.
