Anyone reloading the NAS3 9mm cases? The Lee factory crimp die does not work which Lee confirmed via email after I'd tried to use it and failed. It'll increase the OAL of the cartridge after the bullet is seated. Anyway...I'm leaning towards a plane Jane crimp die but was thinking something like a carbide die might be better for longevity. Can't seem to find a carbide crimp die for sale by itself. Dillon seems to sell it with a three die set but not on its own.

Think I can get by with something cheap like a Lee taper crimp? I did have success using a Hornady bullet seater/crimper but I've always crimped in a separate step. Mostly concerned with the extra wear and tear on the die given the case material.

    From the Shellshock web site:

You may want to consider their dies for the sizing and flaring, but the taper crimp is nothing special.

Also, you must consider that the 9mm was never meant to have a hard crimp since it technically is supposed to headspace on the case mouth. All you want to do is remove the flare and maybe coax the mouth with a gentle taper. YMMV

I did see that and I already have their flaring and sizing dies (well, S3's dies). Was just worried about wear on a progressive over time.

Lyman has their micrometer taper crimp and they sell a carbide insert and mention the NAS3 cases specifically which got me started down the rabbit hole in the first place. I wasn't willing to pay over $200 for a crimping die once all was said and done.

I'll stick with what I have and I do realize I'm only removing the bell. Conversely, these are being used in a PCC in super semi mode, not a hand gun, so they'll get slammed around a bit more.
