Criterion 223 Remington match chamber

Well I tried the Berger 85.5s today seated .060 off the lands. Absolutely horrible groups. Shooting factory gold medal match 77gr I was getting right around 1” groups.
Pretty sure I’m gonna have my local smith chop the back and just rechamber into 223 Wylde. I’d rather have the ease of using all factory match ammo well and then work for a handload.
Weird since apparently it’s throated for the 85.5 but then again I’ve heard they can be finicky with jump which is weird because all the other hybrids don’t seem to care.

I’m gonna give the 80gr smk a shot and if they don’t work it’s getting rechambered. Using the COAL gauge even with 77gr smk I can seat them .020 off the lands and they fit the magazine just fine. Bergers are just too long to the ogive.

The 85.5 is definitely a long bullet, I wanted to try them but never got around to it.

I Figured do I spend $200 on components trying to find a sub moa load or spend $200 on getting it rechambered to shoot anything off the shelf.
I have the same barrel with the match chamber and its shoots every factory round I’ve tried around 0.5 MOA, including some cheap 50gr ballistic tips. They have to be jumping a mile but they hammer.

Also shoots 77gr SMKs extremely well.

Did It take a while for your groups to tighten up with the barrel or did it shoot good right away?
