Gunsmithing Curious- Rem 700 bolt's are three pieces?

I always thought it was weird that my stainless bolt was black where the lugs are, but never gave it much thought. Then some one mentioned the stainless bolts are actually three pieces: The handle and body are stainless, with an attached chromoly head.

I assume the CM bolts are then two pieces? One piece body and handle. Or is it actually three pieces also? Maybe the head has a different temper and is then attached to the body like the stainless models?

Also, why not have a full stainless bolt? Not as strong /safe? Higher risk of galling?

No real point to this. I'm just genuinely curious about the differences and reasoning behind the manufacturing process.

I don't think Remmy has any stainless bolts. I believe the handle is stainless silver soldered to CM. The CM bolt doesn't rust without pits. That is why all stainless actions have polished bolts. I could be wrong too, but I heard something to that effect by a reputable gunsmith.

So all Remington bolts are a handle, tube body, and attached head. Doesn’t really change anything, but I’m surprised. I thought the CM and SS models had different bolts. I always assumed when people discussed one piece bolts they meant the handle versus the body, not the head versus the body. I guess it's cheaper to simply have the heads machined and then attach them to the bodies, then machining the bolts as one piece.
