I'm doing a build for my son and I've chosen the Defiance Rebel action for the rifle with a Krieger barrel and it will be chambered in 7mm-08. I've bought this action previously for a build for my brother and he used a Jewell trigger which works perfectly. When I bought the first action, I asked the salesman who was helping me if a Timney trigger would be ok with the action and he didn't seem too sure. When I ordered this second action, I asked the salesman and he seemed sure they would work well together. So, my question is this...does anyone have any experience with the Defiance Rebel action and a Timney trigger combo, and if so, how do they mesh?

If you go with the Timney, the 510U is the one to use in any Defiance made action. Depending on your application, the Timney could be a better choice than the Jewell.

Thanks for the info Mike. Just the type of info I was looking for. I tried finding the 510U that you referred to, but couldn't. I have the standard 510, but couldn't find the 510U. Is the "U" a typo, or a different trigger designation that is beyond my Google skills? ETA: I found another thread where the "U" is explained. Is there a way to make my regular 510 a "U"?

The actual application for this rifle will be a hybrid target/hunting rifle. It will be ideal as neither, but adequate as both until he figures which direction he wants to go. It will be heavy for hunting, but the stock and trigger will not be ideal for target. Components are top notch, but the actual rifle will be a little confused until he decides what he wants to do with it when he gets older.

You can call Jeff or Kevin at Timney and tell them you want to convert a 510 to a 510U and they might send you the parts.
