    So Cal
I'm new to the hide, but I'm looking to build a great long distance rifle to hit targets, steel plates, etc. The farther the better. I wanted to use the .416 because ammo is easier to get than the 375 chey tac. (I'm not worried about recoil.) Also considering a .408.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a .416 action with an integral picatinny rail like the Surgeon action?

Thanks for your advice and guidance in advance.

Any .50BMG action should be able to handle the .416B. The problem is that since you're in SoCal, it'll be difficult to get an action marked ".50BMG". You'll probably have to go to a custom shop in that case. For a complete rifle, McMillan just announced a .416B version of their TAC-50. EDM Arms can do a .416B version of their M96 Windrunner. The new HTI from DTA can do both .416B and .375 or .408. If you're looking for something more economical, there's lots of option in the single shot tube gun variety. The Ferret 50s can be made in those calibers and they're quite popular with competition shooters.

Damn. I didn't think about the problems with a 50 BMG action in Kalifornia.

I am really considering a Lawton action. I'll check into the other actions too. Thanks for the info. The people on the hide are the best. Except for Maser.
