I'm thinking of cutting the barrel of my m&p 15-22 down to 10 inches then pinning and welding a sleeve on the end for my suppressor to slide into.
If I do for a very short time like 5 minutes it would be a sbr with out tax stamp ... Verry scary
After the extension is in place with an overal of 16.5 inches could I get in truble for at one time being a sbr

remmeber the GSG with the fake can? basically a sleeve? didnt it get pulled for reducing the noise by like 0.5db? make sure your sleeve doesnt do the same

The chances of someone seeing it while your doing it is slim but still the ATF could always say intent to assemble an unregistered item. It's just how technical do you want to get with it.

It was just to cover the pencil barrel. He is cutting his barrel and then welding a hollow sleeve onto it as Im reading it. Thus making it crazy loud without the can.

From my interpretation of Florida statutes is that owning a SBR upper and owning a lower regardless of having it assembled is illegal here. I think that varies state by state. I know in AZ it wasn't a problem, I just wouldn't do it here.

You will be fine, do your local ATF agents come by your house often to inspect your guns, they don't mine. Or anybody else that I know of, dont worry about it. If you are, unscrew the barrel off of the upper, do the work, then put it back together. But that might be a waste of time.

This is right... I'll have some cool videos soon as I'm just about 3 1/2 months on my paperwork for the suppresser

Ya because he will have enough time to run down to take the barrel off when the ATF boys are knocking on his door?

Why would the ATF be knocking on his door?

You have nothing to worry about as long as you don't assemble it before you finish the barrel.

It's cool. I didn't know if you were joking or serious. Some people seem to think the ATF have x-ray satellite surveillance, and are going to show up and arrest you as soon as you chop off a barrel.
