so I am not ready to put down the $$ for a 223 can but I have a Cyclone. I will need to have my barrel threaded to 5/8x24 - which is all fine and dandy. But the real question comes when I want to run the gun w/o the suppressor.

The only comps I have seen that are threaded in 5/8"x24 are 30cal and 6.8. Will either of these compensators work almost as well as a .22 cal comp?

Re: cyclone on AR-15

I was in the same boat that you are in last year. I had a 308 Gemtech HVT that I was using on a 223 Mini-SASS and I have a 1/2 x 28 adapter for the 223. It is fine as long as you are using the AR in the prone but when you have to run and gun with it it makes it very front heavy. That is when I decided I needed an AAC M4/2000 for the M4. It is much lighter and not near as front heavy. The 308 suppressor works but not as well as the 223 suppressor. When you have the money I would recommend getting a 223 suppressor - IMHO.

Re: cyclone on AR-15

I use my Cyclone on a couple different AR's. The top is a WOA built threaded 5/8-24 and has a Smith Enterprises FH on it when the can isn't.

The last pic is CLE built and is 1/2-28 and uses an adapter.

I talked to AAC before I ran the can on the 223. They told me the extra mass of the 308 can would make up for it NOT having the same caliber as the rifle. As one of the other guys said it is kinda heavy and the 223 can would be a better choice.

I also have used it on a 223ai boltgun.
