Recently I have read about or seen on TV, a few different pistols based on the CZ75. Does that mean the CZ75 is a great pistol or nearly a great pistol that needed improvements?

Re: CZ 75

You say platform.Does that mean they are worth buying and getting accurised, or will it cost more than its worth?Any views on the Armalite line, which they reckon is based on the CZ?

Re: CZ 75

Platform=family of models. A wide variety is available. The various mfg's in the 80's tricked them out alot for IPSC although it is probably not necessarily to work them over to make them 'good', like say, a 1911. They are good out of the box. I am biased towards the Czech originals so I cannot comment on the Armalites. I would assume they would demand quality from their Turkish supplier.
Many Euro police/military still use them alot. Overseas, it is common like the Glock or HP.

Re: CZ 75

if you want something along the lines of an "accurized" CZ75, look at the EAA Witness elite series. They come very well sorted straight from the box.

I have a soft spot for the originals too, it's a great "battle pistol".
Both of mine are pre-B versions, chipped and worn to hell, but they work perfectly and reliably every time.

Nashlaw nailed it.

They just work like they are supposed to.
If you get one get the Kadet or 22lr conversion also. It's a great way to practice cheap and works.

Re: CZ 75

CZ-75 Shadow SP-01
One with CZ alu grips (long) and iron front sight (can`t stand the red dots), otherwise stock.
The other, CZ alu grips (short), magwell, rebuilt to single action comp trigger w/trigger job, comp hammer+springs and +mag bottom metals.
Hightly recommended, not one single FTF caused by the weapons.
Well balanced, accuracy out of the box controlled offhand fire 25-30 yds about the size of the bottom of the coffee cup in front of you

Re: CZ 75

I have two CZs and love both. Number one is a CZ-75 SP-01, and two is a CZ-75B. Both were worked over by Angus and Rob at CZCustom.com

The stock trigger pretty well sucks, but can be coaxed into a pretty fine machine. Not that I'm a good shot, but benching the SP-01, using corbon 147 grain ammo, I have put 10 shots into a damn small group. I don't think that you can go wrong using an Angus gun. Look at CZForumSite.info for some deals on a used pistol.

The trigger reset from Rob is frightningly fast, and the SP-01 barrel is damn accurate.

Re: CZ 75

I picked up a CZ75 SA here a few months ago and am loving it. It fits my hand really well and shoots great. The safety feels a little odd (used to my 1911's and 2011) at first but not a problem.

Re: CZ 75

I'm queer for .22 kits.
Got a NIB Kadet kit a couple of years ago for $200 with no gun to put it on. I've long wanted a a CZ, so this was a good excuse to go shopping. I wound up with an 85 Combat Dual Tone (satin nickel frame). 85s are ambi (my kid's sinister).
Overall it's a delight. The stock trigger is a little different; the smoothest DA Ive ever felt on an auto outside of a ParaOrdnance LDA. The SA cams the hammer back a little; it's so smooth and short, I certainly don't consider it creep. Certainly no harder to become accustomed to than a Glock.

As a .22, it's my favorite gun....after the M-41 Smith. The kit actually has to be fitted to YOUR frame, a few minutes with a small file.

Is this a P01? I really like those grips.

I've wanted a 75 for a while, it's just not as high on the list as some other guns.

I'm debating between the SP-01 and the P01. Which do you like better? Is the P01 very concealable?

Nah, that's a PCR. Think P01 without a rail, and with a marginally better rear sight. Grips are just factory CZ cocobolos from Angus.

SP-01 and the P01 are really two wildly different guns. That's more like asking between a G19 and a G34. The SP-01 is a fairly large/heavy fullsize gun with a manual safety. The P01 is like a midsize gun (fairly G19'ish) with a decocker.

Personally... I don't care for CZ's implementation of the decocker. At the least, I'd likely grind down the nub to make it less intrusive to my grip. As far as it being concealable.... eh... kinda. I mean... it's still a midsize gun. I'd put it on par with a G19, it's better in some ways, worse in others; so a wash for all intents and purposes. Obviously the Glock would have more holster options. I myself carry a Kahr or a J-frame...... Though I've been wanting to try the sub-compact RAMI.

+1

I have shot an original Czech model and was HIGHLY impressed with it.

There is no finer 9mm in my opinion.
The Browning High Power is similiar but I like the CZ-75 far better.

just a fine pistol right out of the box
