Well a divorce earlier this year all but wiped me out on my rifles i kept my high caliber sales mk12. and my 700 50th anniv 7mm mag that im gonna give to my little boy some day.

Now its time to build me another all around hunting/target rifle and i was dead set on a 30-06ai cause i was bored with .308 i picked up a old donor action 700 adl about three weeks ago. Got with the smith and had a good idea what to do. Iw as Gonna order a hs stock shilen #6.

Well a rancher who knows i shoot came by with a freaking sendero in 300 rum with a decent nikon scope some dude owed him money on a saddle. and i gave him $525.00 for it. Thats more gun than i want to deal with or load for. But should i use it for a custom build in 300 win or 7mag or sell it to fund my 30-06ai build. Damn the luck. Thanks to all

Yep the builder even tried to talk me into 300 before hand. But my way of thinking was with the 30-06ai with a 1/11 twist i could use a ton of different powders and bullets. And with hand loads push close to 300 win mag velocity. The sendero has the exact hs stock i was gonna order. So i guess thats what the powers of the universe want. 300 win mag spiral fluted barrel. vais brake. Surgeon bolt knob cerekoted. 2.5-10x42 nightforce.

Would anybody recommend a lighter contour barrel than #6 shillen. thats what he suggested. After all hes gonna take out with the fluting. and what length 24 is what im thinking. I want a gun light enough i can take on a elk hunt in new mexico and heavy enough the barrel dont start whipping out 8 inch groups after 3 rounds. I know everbody says you cant have a light target rifle. But with my situation i need a do almost everything gun for a good while. Idk why. I got the mk12 for varmints and the 7mm mag is light enough for mountains all though its a safe queen. But it aint leaving this family so might as well use it more. Im a dipshit. That settles it thanks to all.
