Been looking at 45ACPs for about 3-4mos now and have pretty much settled on the DW Duty finish 45.

I’ve read a lot of reviews and all have been good but thought I’d ask guys that have owned and shot them their thoughts.

So what are you guys thoughts on the valor?

Thanks Dave.

LOVE my V-Bob.

Jefes Dope those are nice, I have the CCO Valkyrie in 45. Night and day difference for carry between that and my DW Silverback in 10mm. I'd put a photo up but don't have one. Besides anyone can see what it looks like on the CZ website SKU is 1965. I highly recommend the DW.

Buy a blem if you can.
It will still photograph well.

Buy Dan Wesson pistols with confidence...
I have owned several through the years before settling down with a Specialist.

I have owned Nighthawks at the same time as DW’s, and take nothing away from the NH (great pistols), but I couldn’t find the extra $1500 or so value in them compared to he price of a DW.

I’ve owned a couple DW 9mm’s... the ECO and their Guardian. Of all the 1911’s I’ve owned or shot over the years, DW is my favorite hands down! Springfield TRP is up there too. Anyways, as others have already stated, you can’t go wrong with a DW.

Call Dave at Severns. He's a bit of a DW specialist. No pun intended. ;)

http://www.severnscustom.com

Another vote for Severns Customs - that's where I bought mine from, great experience. Dave strips apart and goes over all the 1911's he sells, to ensure his customers are getting an excellent product with no defects.

I love my Valor. It's the only 1911 I own, the only one I need, and one I am taking to the grave.

hes not taking any new orderers/customers right now...ive got 2 guys here local checking every where they know but because its the duty finish EVERYONE is outta stock so it looks like its going to be a long wait but well worth it!

thanks again guys.

Well I found a slightly used 4.5” barreled black valor....going to take a look at it tomorrow....only problem guy wants ALL the money for it...in other words as if it’s new never fired money.

If you have interest in a black valor v-bob send me a pm

The valor v-bob is a commander size pistol with a bobtail. The first several pictures posted in this thread by Jefe's dope are of a valor v-bob. Just a preference if you want a standard mainspring housing or a bobtailed.

I too have a V-bob, and I love it! Mine is SS. I have heard some stories (one firsthand from a customer at a LGS I used to manage) where using the wrong solvent on the black finish models took the finish clean off. I believe he used Safariland powder blast aerosol solvent, or something similar. I wouldn't use any of the brake cleaner/ carb cleaner stuff on it. Just be weary of what you use to clean it if you get the black finish.

I’ve never shot the Valor but my Dan Wesson Razorback is an awesome pistol. Dan Wesson builds some nice 1911’s

looks like its outta stock now but thanks...i did end up finding one...same pistol you post just with the mag well plate/extension on it...very happy with the valor...so much so im going to buy a razor back in 10mm in a few months.
I’m showing they have one left in stock.

Either way glad you found one that you like. Once you get into the semi custom/custom 1911 realm there is no going back ??

your not kidding...some day when i grow up i might buy a wilson LOL!!

all kidding aside i really like the dan weson...very accurate even in my hands.
I absolutely put Dan Wesson in that category and I think a Dan Wesson A2 with no frills looking the way a 1911 was suppose to would go toe to toe with my Les Baer or any Wilson on the market.

i agree...i just can not see myself spending $3k plus on a pistol...especially how i go through rifle barrels...if i had unlimited funds sure but until i hit the lotto next week ill have to make do LOL!

I feel ya, I draw the line at 2k I stayed just under that mark with my Baer and my STI. I can’t justify the cost of a Wilson, Nighthawk or a Guncrafter. After shooting my Baer I just don’t think another grand plus is differential.

ive shot my buddies wilson(he has 3 of them)and they are nice without a doubt but like you i just do not see enough difference to justify the price

I too shot two Wilson’s back to back. Both were CQB’s one in 9mm and one in .45.

They were a dream to shoot and very easy to make hits. They made me look way better as a shooter but that price tag is gonna force me to go DW.

You won’t feel so bad if you put an idiot mark on a DW, a Wilson you’d cry,,,,,

I cry if I did on my DW....a Wilson I can’t even imagine....also why I got me a 10pak of these...
