I need a better data book

I want an impact data book.

I want to make sure I get useful pages.

I handload and use an excel sheet to keep up with load data and round count through all weapons. I will be using the data book for one 308 rifle only. I do not have a chronograph

So far, 80% of my shooting is at 100 yd ranges from a bench which is less than ideal. I am about two hours from Manatee gun club south of Tampa which has a 1000yd and 600yd range, but I only get there once every two or three months. in between it is the local range(s) at 100yds and no private land.

I have been shooting some 3 and 5 shot groups and I have been working on the 21 dot drill. For this type of limited facility applications, what pages are useful? I see the dot drill pages, the general blank pages, cold bore tracker etc. out of the 8 sections in the modular data book how would you divide it up?

thanks

To some extent, it's I you to peruse the Impact Databook site and see if any specific pages appeal to you, but for starters, get the Snipers Hide book, which had plenty of journal pages in it along with some other great choices for your first Databook.

In addition, to make good use of those few times you get to Manitee, make sure that you have good log pages for recording your calls and actual hits to develop good DOPE from your rifle at distances you don't normally get to. This is extra helpful since you don't have a chrono to get your speed.

Blank target pages are good for this too, as you can sketch the target shapes at different distances and record your impacts on them.

Get circle pages. A lot of stuff you shoot for targets will be round and the circle pages work great.

My shooting has become more about trying to shoot 1 MOA so I downloaded and printed the appropriate 1", 2" 3" etc circle than use the circle target pages to record if each shot is in or out.

Thanks for the info, i need to get my subscription stuff lined out, i paid for scout in February and march, then the hide moved. Good timing on my part.

I will review the SH book and compare it to a modular book l and go from there.
