Gunsmithing Date of Production

I just picked up an ADL Remington in 22-250. It is an "A" prefix and 7 digit serial number. I looked on the Remington website for dates of manufacture, but it only lists barrel dates and my barrel(factory) has no numbers, other than caliber, on it.

Any help regarding production year? Serial # A654XXXX.

There should be 2 letters on the barrel somewhere, back by the chamber. Those can be decoded using Remington's site that you have already found.

The letter are there if it is a factory barrel.

Should be a mid '70 with A prefix. Letter code is on left side of barrel about 3/8" ahead of receiver. Might also be a couple numbers also.

Just call remington with your serial number off the receiver. They have an automated menu just for such things and its free. Takes all of 5 minutes and they'll do multiple guns if you want. I've found the barrel dating can be wrong.

look on the left side of the rifle just in front of the recoil lug for the two letter code,I have a chart that lists dates
