I am looking to convert a model 70 set up with a WSSM internal magazine to accept a DBM in 300 WSM. Any suggestions? I can't seem to find anyone who makes a kit.

I don't think that you can convert a WSSM receiver to a WSM cartridge. Measure the center-line distance between the front and rear screw holes and let us know what the dimension is. When I get home I will measure one of my actions and see if it is the same.

thats an affirm with CDI. I asked him about the wssm to wsm and he said its no problem.

I am going to have to disagree that they can be converted. I did a little searching and found the screw spacing:
Long action 7 5/8"
Short Action 7 1/8"
Super Short action 6 1/2"
This tells me that the WSSM receiver is approximately 5/8" shorter than the short action.
Even better yet measure the magazine cut-out in the receiver from front to rear and you should be somewhere around 3.2" in order to be able to feed a WSM cartridge.
OAL of a WSSM is 2.36" and OAL of a WSM is 2.86". That is a difference of 1/2" and would explain the WSSM receiver being shorter than the WSM.

the WSSM reciever can be used for a WSM but only as a single shot all of the advertising from the big W was how they shortened the action to make this amasing rifle not that it is shorter and has a mag bolt face you will have a WSSM or nothing, the actions arnt worth anything here as you cant make them into a BR or a 223 without making or modifying the bolt and then re fabrication the mag box. I would look at a neck turned 243 or 257 WSSM the actions are short so the 6.5 with VLD's wont feed either. So i am sure that CDI were not thinking correctly as the WSM cartriges require a longer bolt throw, magwell opening and their hole spacing is 1/2" closer together on the WSSM action.
