I am on the fence wether to buy DD Ross bottom metal or Badger for my next tac rifle. Badger seemsmore popular but the DD looks pretty rugged wich I like, Your thoughts
Ross is a great piece, but with the M4 if you choose later to switch to a dbm, the M5 is almost a perfect fit with little changes. On the other hand, its more difficult to match the Ross inlet, but can be done.
I have the Badger M4 and am very satisfied. One reason I chose the Badger is that the release is on the inside of the guard. I prefer this to the Ross which has the release on the outside.
One thing to note is that the release for the Badger is very difficult to use. It is practically flush with the guard and must travel a wide arc before the door drops. There is absolutely no way this footplate will accidentally dump rounds. I like this aspect, but I can imagine it might annoy others. I would consider this before investing.
