Re: dead night sights

If they're under warranty, give them a call. I have Trijicon's on three of my S&W .45's. Most of them are close to ten years old or older. They still all work.

Re: dead night sights

Actually, Meprolight warranties their Tru-Dot sights for 12 years usable illumination and non-Tru-Dots for only 5 years, but ONLY to the orginal purchaser, from the date of the original purchase.

If you bought yours new, they are Tru-Dots, they are 5yrs old and they are not functioning properly, get in touch with Mepro and tell them you'd like a replacement set under their warranty coverage. It'll cost you postage of your sights to Meprolight, but from what I have seen, they will replace them no questions asked.

Re: dead night sights

Hopefully you sent in the warranty card. If so, I wouldn't worry about your original receipt. If not...well...you can still try to get their warranty service to swap them for you.

No, no...NO!!

Meprolight sights are MADE in Israel, but Kimber Mfg (of the 1911 fame) is their exclusive importer and thus, handles all their USA warranty claims/etc.

Actually, I'd try to get before and after shots on this project. Should be interesting to see how it goes. Any decisions on what you are going to do on refinishing it?

Re: dead night sights

going with a hide member... going to let him refinish the slide in gloss black duracoat... he also said he would push my sights in for free so who would say no....

i do have some pix of my usp as is so ya i will definitely blow the forum up with a review..

i will say I am scared as all hell though... hey if i dont like it i can sell it and get a hk45 i have always wanted one so

Re: dead night sights

Going to to Trijicons when you replace them is, imho the way to go. Fantastic customer service. A while back they overhauled a reflex for me that was going dark. I am not the original owner, and the sight is so old that the serial didn't appear in their database. Updated glass and replaced the tritium element. They suggested, since I am LEO that I send it with Department id. I did. The work was fast, and the sight returned, no charge. It is currently employed on my patrol rifle. Great guys! I can't say enough!
