Now that I have finally decided to get custom Hunting rifle built from the ground up (stiller action, kreiger/lilja barrel, stock and trigger to be researched), I need some recommendations from you guys. This is going to be my first custom rifle. I could go the GA Precision route, but I am certain there are numerous other qualified gunsmiths out there that can do the same quality work without the big price tag or the looooooong wait. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Tex,

When selecting a gunsmith I'd make a bad guy list and steer clear. There are numerous good guys out here. Chances are, there's one very close to you as I type. If you can find one with in a two or three hour drive I'd pay him a visit, may be worth while.

Depending on where in OK you're at, Surgeon Rifles would be one of the first I contacted. Good luck.

wsroscoe is good to go in my books! He lives 7 to 8 hours away depending on traffic and I am more than willing to make the drive for his services. I used him before and will use him time and time again.

He has my reminton action right now.... just a couple of delays on my end is holding the build up.

I suggest you look at some custom rifle at shoots you attend or by visiting some shops. That will give you an idea of who to go to, instead of getting a recommendation over the net. IMHO

Good luck

Very fast turn around, aside waiting for the componants and you won't get one built better.

Randy @ RD Precision, HateCA here on the Hide. His work speaks for itself and I have never heard one bad word about him or his work. The rifle that I have that he made is awsome.

wsroscoe has a good rep as well and his work is GTG. If I was in that land above Texas I would make the trip to him.

Have you tried to contact S&S Precision in Argyle Texas outside of Denton Texas. Stick is good. Where are you in OK. His #is 940 566 7001 give him a call won't hurt to talk to him.

You can't go wrong with Surgeon.
I saw Surgeon actions go into the new Terry cross stocks.
Long and short.

my vote goes to Jon Beanland of Beanland custom rifles. Jon does outstanding work that would compare or surpass all others. Jon is a fine human being with a heck of a talent!!!!!!! He is a good fella to say the least.. Lee
