Been going over use of weapons and trying to decide on this one. I've been climbing the AI ladder, slowly but surely. I started out with a PSS in an AICS chassis, If I remember correctly the mags were the AE type(single stack/single feed) Worked through that and then went to the AE, the AEII and AEIII. Now have the AT model (6.5CM) and debating the AX. All were sold/traded up along the way.
Now trying to decide if the step up from AT to AX is worth it. I really don't see plans for a AXMC as I'm no where near land to take advantage of the magnums, I'm at 1200 max here.

The other choice is thinning out and taking advantage of one feature of the AT, quick change barrel. Debating selling the Ruger Precision in .308(new MLOK model) and picking up a .308 barrel to run that when I need or want to.

Right now, leaning on the Ruger sale and adding a .308 barrel for the AT. If I went the AX route, would get it in .308 as I have a spare 6.5 barrel already from Mile High.

Dang it!

Watcha think?

I am sort of on the same thinking process as you. Now that I have my AT, do I really want/need my RPR when I can just get a new barrel. Decisions decisions. Great first world problems we have! :)

I bought an AT last year with the 308 barrel. Then I had a 260 barrel made for it. The point of impact will be different for each barrel. Also, if you remove the barrel and then reinstall it you'll have to fire a couple shots to settle the barrel back to its happy spot. I'm currently having a barrel made for 6mm Creedmoor.

I've had all of them, actually have your old AE MKII still. The AX is still my favorite platform and I don't see that changing. I just finally got a AX with small firing pin and it's a game changer for me being able to run the high pressure stuff.

For me the quick and fully adjustable PSR butt on the AX is worth it's weight in gold. Being able to run it in a click or two for standing positions certainly aids in making solid shots. The side cutout in the magwell is also nice for mag swaps in extremely low positions. The forend is a must for me being able to run NV clip ons, and IR illuminators and other NV tools where I see fit vs the limited real estate on the AT where you can mount pic rails. The longer forend tube with the hand grip that acts as a barricade stop is also nice for shooting off of barricades, especially after you add the RRS plate and a Sawtooth Arca rail.

I would certainly do the upgrade, it's worth it.
