Defiance elite??

I have one with about 300 rounds on it so far. I had it done up in 6BR. The action is smooth, but not quite AI or TRG smooth.

The mechanical ejector gives me a bit of trouble on occasion but I have a feeling that is a bolt manipulation problem I am having. After using spring loaded ejectors for awhile I need to adapt by muscle memory a bit.

It is very well made, I like the giant tenon and some of the rail options they have.

Is the bolt lift any easier than the older deviants? I'm really just being picky but would like it to be a little lighter on mine. It isn't bad but that's one thing I'd change.

Guess it feeds the 6br well? Mine has always fed my dasher well

I run the HRD gear mag kits out of AW mags and they feed great. I am very pleased with the mag kits and they are not a half-assed attempt - no cutting stuff, reusing springs, etc.

I find that the lift is different. It is hard to say if it is lighter but it is very smooth. The firing spring thing that they did has a different feel than the other bolts that I have used. I also have a regular deviant (got it on trade and barely touched it) that does seem to be heavier but not by much. Nicer than the surgeon I played with on the weekend.

I own 2 Defiance Deviant short actions, the first one is about 3 years old have no problems. The second one that is a year old the tolerance on the action is so tight my gunsmith had trouble cerakote the bolt. He cerakote as thin as possible had work it in and he built both rifle. All is good no other problem. Has anyone have similar problem with tight tolerance. But very happy with Defiance actions

Now that it's been a while do you prefer the deviant tactical or elite?

This thread has me excited as my Deviant Elite is sitting in customs at the border, waiting to be turned into a 6mm Dasher! From everything I have read, the Deviant Elites are solid, run the BR based cartridges well and stand up to dirt/dust/cerakote well.

Im picking up mine lunch time.my dealer just doing transfer process..
Like mentioned above and what norm said from defiance.they did do few revisions,
Earlier version with cut out rail (still available) comes with none fluted bolt and swept(defiance style) bolt handle.
The newer version comes with longer ejector, fluted bolt ang straight with little angle towards the rear bolt handle.like their new TENACITY

What are the lines on the bolt knob? Curious to see how your gonna like the action

I will run either with no difference really. I think from a "engineering" standpoint I prefer the Elite. The longer tenon and the scope rail adjustments I think are great ideas.

I sort of prefer the ejection a bit more on the Tactical though. It seems to deposit the brass in a nice little pile at my 5 o'clock whereas the elite is a touch more variable.

Thanks I think I'm gonna go with the Elite for my next build

Are you happy with both your Defiance?
