Do you remember the infomercials for the degeorge home alliance? It was a d
eal where you IIRC would pick a home plan and be your own general contractor. You could do as much or as little of the work yourself as you wanted and if you got in over your head they had contractors who would complete the work. They did the financing for the build as well.
I have a buddy who wants to build a house and do some of the work himself. I remembered the comercials but that is about it. Anyone ever dealt with them or a similar company?

Re: degeorge home alliance?

Perhaps they are a regional outfit as I have never heard of DeGeorge other than the ceiling outfit that advertises in our market.

There are numerous ways to accomplish the goals you outline. Property owners in Florida may pull permits for approved (Through plan review of their blueprints, prepared by licensed architects and/or engineers) projects but must hire out the subcontractors and supervise them.

The ability to consult with experts is allowed of course but there are penalties for straw man permits that are pulled to enable unqualified or prohibited general contractors or subs to obtain permits.

There are numerous online home package builders who will work with the homeowner/builder.
