Designated Marksman 2

Overview: In DM I, shooters gained the ability to determine their targets range, compensate for external factors, and engage multiple targets with precise fires. DM 2 will show students how to apply precision marksmanship fundamentals when firing from supported positions other than the prone. The content taught in DM 2 is derived from training conducted by the military’s most elite shooters. With these gained skills, graduates will be able to fire precisely from almost any position, whether it be off of a barricade type object or tripod.

Topics Covered:
• Fundamentals of Precision Marksmanship
• Range Cards/ Field Sketches
• Scope Theory/Utilization
• Range Estimation/ Determining the Unknown
• Milhold
• Max Point Blank
• External Ballistics/Factors
• Precision Shooting Positions
• Nigh Optics Utilization/Familiarization
• Known Distance Precision Shooting
• Multiple Target Engagements
• Supported Position Fundamentals
• Tripod Shooting
• Barricade Shooting

Gear List:
• Appropriate Clothing
• Headgear
• Sunglasses
• Eye-pro/ Ear-pro
• Note taking material
• Flashlight/ Headlamp
• Weapon Cleaning Gear
• (2) Lunches, students will be afforded the opportunity to eat Breakfast and Dinner
• Water
• Any AR platform rifle or bolt action rifle, capable of holding 1 ½ minute groups at 500 Meters
• Rifle must be outfitted with magnified optic. Optics with mil or MOA reticles and the ability to compensate for windage/distance are needed to complete course of fires.
• Bipods recommended
• Sandsock, provided if needed
• (225) Rounds of match grade ammunition, 72 grns or higher strongly recommended

Endstate: By learning to fire from tripods, shooters will greatly increase their ability to fire from concealed and covered positions. Secondly, barricades will be used to simulate firing from doorways, windows, ledges, trees, and a number of different vantage points. Learning to apply the fundamentals in these different positions will empower the shooters to utilize inanimate objects in their environment to strengthen their shooting positions, thus increasing precision. Supported shooting is applicable to any avid shooter and upon completion of the course; graduates will have greatly improved that capabilities as a modern day precision gunfighter.
Finally, all students will be afforded the unique opportunity to conduct a night optic familiarization fire. Appropriate optics will be provided by the instructors.

In alliance with our beliefs, Max Ordinate training is held to a standard, not a timeline. Designated Marksman is held over a 2 day period and participants should plan on being at the range from 8:00 AM till dusk.

Also, students will be afforded the rare opportunity to conduct a night optic familiarization fire. Appropriate optics will be provided by the instructors for this portion.

Additionally, during the course all students have the opportunity to purchase a US Optics at 30% off. You can view US Optics products here U.S. OPTICS - Engineered for Extreme Performance

*Upon graduation, individuals will maintain the ability to attend Designated Marksman II free of charge for life.

Usafabrad if you have some experience with shooting from the prone you will be fine. DM II is all built around a shooting from positions other than the prone such as tripod, barricade, car, etc. fundamentals, scope theory, ballistics are still covered subjects

What's the difference between Designated Marksman and Long Range Gunfighter courses?

Thanks Tyler for a great course of fire at Twin Sisters! Sunday was awesome with what, eleven stages? All contorted or just the wrong height for traditional positions, forcing us to improvise and construct solid positions with full use of bags and stuff. Good stuff!
