does anyone have any tips for using devcon steel putty 10110 best release agent? and also i have some brownells dye from an acraglas kit could you use it to color the devcon ?

+1 on Roscoes thread. I use kiwi neutral shoe polish as a release agent. I would pass on the dye

I've found that Minwax furniture paste wax works fine as a release agent.
I have not tried dying Devcon, but its natural color is fairly dark so I'm not sure that dye would substantially change the color. My preference is to mask the mating surface and paint the stock after bedding, which hides any bedding that may be visible with the action in place.
