You know, I suppose it could happen to anyone who carries on a daily basis but this is a bit much. Dept Homeland Security lost 243 weapons. One of them was left inside an idling vehicle while the office was in a convenience store. The weapons was later recovered from a suspected gang member.

Here's the linky

RR ....i shall forever have these visions in my minds eye of you putting the blocks to some Hottie with RED hair....whooping it up and spanking the bitch with some ten gallon triple X cowboy hat, bronco billy style.....ironically priceless....

thanks for the post btw.

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

From a buddy who is a fed with another agency this is not only a DHS problem. Seems that the new generation of idiots who don't think they need a gun to do their job don't seem to think it is important enough to take care of the one they are given.

I carried an M16 for 8 years but I never lost it.

They should at LEAST, at a VERY minimum have to pay for these weapons.

There is no excuse in my mind, but maybe that's because I had a pretty awesome drill sergeant and some of these yahoos didn't even HAVE a drill sergeant!!

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

Why does this report make me wonder if my Homeland is really more secure? How can yu just "leave your gun in the bathroom of a resturant"...pay for it hell any one that stupid should be fired.

Hey my last comment on redheads is that Bruce Springsteen wrote a song about redheaded women. The Boss knows what he's talkin' about.

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

Yeah, this story is less than inspiring. People should get crushed for losing a weapon. There's absolutely no excuse for this. I wonder what the punishment is for losing a weapon?

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

I know that there are PROBABLY some decent people working there. But the two that I know, or used to know, are A$$holes that couldn't find their asses with both hands and a road map.

Well played, sir. Well played. I got a good chuckle out of that one.

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

In the Army if I lost any of my weapons, not just an individual but as a Commander, I would have probably just now be getting out of Ft Leavenworth. This is a chain of command issue. There needs to be leaders fired for this to send a signal to their subordinates that this will not be tolerated.

WOW!!! is all can say about that.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If some dude left his M4 leaning up against a tree in land nav, it's hands across the training area until we find it. The truth is that if they don't crush people's careers for this kind of negligence, it will continue to go on. That kind of irresponsibility is sickening.

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

Had a platoon sergeant in 5/9 Inf - Alaska 1989 - his son or himself ha an arty simulator in his basement.

It went off, blew out windows.

Next thing you know he's up at Battalion HQ pushing papers, promomted from SFC to Msgt.

Guy was a moron from the start, the big questions is "How did that arty simulator GET into your on-base housing?"...oh theft is OK when you make SFC.

Re: DHS loses 243 weapons

I can assure you that Joe Citizen is doing worse than the US LE Community and at a higher frequency. I deal with it all the time and it is outrageous. Bottom line is WE ALL need to be more responsible, badge or not.
