Finally got my CSS, with Pierce Engineering TubeGun Special SA, 26" Krieger 6.5mm CM in 1:8" twist, and Shilen trigger.
Now the sights, as if blood^Wmoney spill weren't enough ...

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Wanted to use the GAP's Templar (as I already own one), but its geometry is not 100% M700, and did not fit the stock. Plus, the Pierce Engineering action already included all the changes to make the best fit for the stock.
And I've to say that the action seems pretty sweet for a first inspection.

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

No glass, irons.
Glass would be too easy, you just pick a scope. My head already hurts thinking about all the combination between rear sight, rear iris, front sight, front iris, lenses, ...

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Been shooting Service Rife matches, but have been getting the urge for a XTC match rifle. This may just be the ticket. Especialy being a lefty .

Did Pearce build it ?

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Yes, Pierce Engineering built it.
He cut, crowned, threaded, chambered, and installed the barrel using Gary Eliseo recoil disk. He also turned the barrel at 0.750" at the muzzle.
According to Gary, stock assembly is a DIY operation, but since the stock had to be shipped to Pierce anyway (for the recoil disk), I preferred them to assembly it (since they already did quite a few of them).
AFAICS they did a pretty nice and tidy job.

That was exactly $1025 shipped, with two magazines plus the single-load block.

I know Warner is good, but I picked a Phoenix Precision rear sight with Gehman 510 iris, and a Stallings Machine 30mm RightSight with a Gehman 2.9mm-4.9mm iris and 0.5 lens.

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Well, according to shooters with way more experience than me in LR and XTC shooting, Phoenix Precision makes a pretty darn good and solid rear sight. With a little bit more competitive price WRT Warner.

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Speaking of Phoenix Precision, Gary (the owner) is a heck of a good and stand-up guy to talk to (just spoke to him at the phone).
He is going to ship the sight before even getting the money (and I did not even ask for that), thing that, with the moral values dropping close to the bottom nowadays, is a borderline scary business practice

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Hey man, not saying Phoenix isnt good, but I havent owned one and honestly, cant say I have even seen one on the line. I have a "little" HP experience. :)

Me, I will stick with the Warner.

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Well, since there is no glass involved, two things need to be verified. Solidity of the build, and tracking of the adjustments.
Will report back once I got my rear sight+iris and the front sight ...

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

The Phoenix is solid. Tons of them on the XTC, MR and LR lines up here in MN where Gary is from. I've got a Warner and a Phoenix and If I had to do it over again I'd have 2 Phoenix's. The Warner is great but so is the Phoenix and it's about $150 cheaper. you'll like it......

Because you need no camo paint or ghillie suit, to snipe paper

Re: Did anyone say Competition Shooting Stuff?

Phoenix Precision told me they are working on a new front sight on their own, so I guess soon we'll have more choices
