Did I just get lucky?

How does a bone stock Ruger M77 that is older than me with a skinny sporter barrel and a old Leupold 3-9 shoot this well? Its my soon to be wife's hunting rifle. I headed out to the range to work up a load and was blown away how well it shot. I pulled the shot that is way out.

If you can't produce that group at least two more times and then again in a 5 shot group its luck. Two shots touching is easy. 5+, not so much.

bodywerks pretty much said everything that needs to be said. end of story.

For the record- that is a 3 shot group that is measured, right?

Its a three shot group. The 4th was the one that went wide.

This was load work up so we'll see happens from here...

It's not that surprising. I have bought Abolts, rem 700's and weatherbys that shoot 3 shot groups all touching. Half inch territory. If you get a good barrel and it likes your quality ammo, bingo.

Today's manufacturing can be good on basics. The thing when buying these stock guns, they might shoot for shit too. Like my Win 70. (4 inch groups) and other weatherby AKA shotgun quality.

It's a roll of the dice. Yes, lucky but not unusual.
