I have a buddies scope here helping him get it zeroed on a hunting rifle of his.

The scope is a Zeiss Victory FL Diavari 6-24x50. It is a SFP scope, with zero stop and .1mil turrets. Very nice hunting optic if you want to spend that much money.

I am curious about this scope, and how it compares to the SFP Hensoldts.

I am sure there are some differences between the two, but I havent really seen it clearly explained anywhere. I assume there are internal differences making the mechanism's stronger and more durable, since the Hensoldt has the military more in mind than the hunting crowd.(From what I have read, anyway)

I am hoping some of the Zeiss/Hensoldt vendors can elaborate a bit for me.

Re: Difference between Zeiss Diavari/Hensoldt?

The major difference between the Hensoldt and the Zeiss 6-24x is the erector design. As a result, the Hensoldt has more elevation travel compared to the Zeiss version. There are a few other differences that I've forgotten, one might be that the lens coating on the Hensoldt is a little more rugged and resistant to scratching.

Re: Difference between Zeiss Diavari/Hensoldt?

Thanks Jack. I assume there are pretty significant differences, given the price difference of the optics and their target markets.

I noticed a Hensoldt SFP for sale in the For Sale forums and looking at it, it looks identical to the Zeiss I have here, and given that it is a SFP scope the two are very similar.

Just got me to wondering what the mechanical difference are, given the price difference.

Nathan from Hudisco posted the differences in earlier threads. From what I can remember, the internals are more durable on the Hensoldt, and the glass has fluorite coating.

I must have missed it.

Also, the Diavari I have here says FL on it, I assumed that was Fluorite coating. ?

I know on the older 6-24x56 Zeiss Victory Diavari I used to have, it did not have the FL, but I think this one does.

Re: Difference between Zeiss Diavari/Hensoldt?

Internals on the Hensoldt are stronger and beefier, the lense coatings are more abrasion resistant, illumination system is different, more elevation travel are the main differences.
