Figured I’d get some thoughts. Current lot of hornady eld 140’s seem to have a large variation in ogive length. Between 6k-9k some seem equal to lot, but then other are way off the “norm” mark. Any input?

This is just my opinion. I’ve been told I’m wrong. Last years lots that had the see through red tips where awesome shooting bullets. Then the change to the opaque red tips. The ogive of the new bullet compared to the old shrank .013-.015”. I’ve since been through a 2,000 piece case and am on to my second case. This new lot seems to vary by a few thousands here and there. They don’t shoot as well at 100 yards but seem to stabilize and get better at distance. I personally think they changed the bullets and I’m not sure they’re as good as they used to be. At the end of the day I shoot steel and they work good enough for me and when you get them cheap enough they’re .25-.26 cents a piece.
I’ve also heard grumblings on the Internet, take that for what’s it worth, that some of the 140’s have not been stabilizing in people’s rifles. I haven’t personally talked to someone that’s had that happen.
I’m still using the 140’s and will continue to do so!
