Different dies for each rifle w/ same cartridge?

Do you have a different set of dies for every rifle even if some are the same cartridge? I have a different set of dies for my 40x 30-06 vs my Garand, but what if you have two bolt-action 223's for instance. Does everyone use a different seating die for each rifle, or if the additional rifle shoots the first's load "well enough" do you just use the same dies? Just wondering what everyone's practice is.

I don't have multipule rifles in the same cartridge but I can't help wondering what function you feel might be served by having different die sets for those who do?

If you're looking to get the sizing dies adjusted to where you need them and then leave them be, I guess this would make sense. I would think that you'd only need to get a another resizing die instead of a whole set, as if you had a micrometer seating die it's too easy to adjust back and forth for each rifle's desired depth.

If it's just a seating die, no real need for two unless for the convenience when reloading for both at the same time.
IMHO

Well, for instance I reload for an WOA barreled AR15 and a benchmark barreled bolt-action 1/7 twist 223 varmint gun. I seat the bullets out farther for the bolt gun than the semi-auto. I use RCBS dies mainly, so switching between lengths is a pain in the ass.
I was just wondering what most people do. Sounds like most use 1 set of dies per cartridge.
Thanks.

If you're going to do that, just buy one of the micrometer seating dies instead of two whole die sets. If you've never used one and you're loading multiple rifles in the same caliber you'll smack yourself for how easy it is. You can literally dial a round in, note the setting hash marks (RCBS ones has them labeled as I'm sure all the other brands do as well) and with a couple of quick turns of the micrometer you're anywhere from .001 to .100 away with a known reference point to go back to.

They are very consistent too...

I should have gotten a normal one for my .30-06 because I'll just be loading that rifle, but for my ar I'll probably get a micrometer one because I might have a match ar soon. So I'll be going back and forth with diff rifles. Light load my friends match as well
