Browning Hells Canyon Long Range - 300 Win Mag (with the original slow twist barrel)
I handload 178gr Hornady ELDX that shoot quite well, running about 2900fps.
Bushnell 3.5-21 HDMR
Harris 9-13 SBRM
Terminator T2 muzzle brake

This is my main deer rifle, it's great within about 600 meters. The cold bore data has been a bit hit and miss, something I'm always trying to chase down and stay on top of so I keep hunting shots within that.

Factory loaded 180gr SST Hornady Superformance is the only other ammo this rifle likes, shoots it pretty consistently at just under MOA. It's never been a tack driver but it hits like a truck and puts deer down fast while being extremely comfortable to carry and shoot.

The rotary magazine can be sticky, no matter how I tweak the springs, tension and dry lube it... The rifle often fails to eject rounds, they flop around and sit in the ejection port... Overall, it's alright :ROFLMAO:

Ruger m77 markii in 3006, I had my parents put money to this instead of a high school graduation ring one day at cabelas. Great ideas don’t go unrewarded.

Purchased Brenda a Remington 541S .22 with a Leupold 3x9 scope for a wedding present. She loved to squirrel hunt. (and still does). At the time it was a rather expensive and rather nice small bore rifle. Ordered it from my good friend Steve Brooks at Hunt and Whitiker Gun and Pawn in Monroe, LA. Took an entire month’s paycheck in the store and handed it to him. It covered the cost of the rifle/scope with hardly a penny left over.

That was 48 years ago. She still cherishes that rifle, it still takes down squirrels and is the envy of everyone who sees it. (Internet copy photo of similar rifle, hers is in the safe and its raining)

Im running a Tikka T3X CTR 20" Stainless in 6.5CM with a Nightforce SHV 3-10 and Seekins Low Rings. Comes in ~9lb. Easily Sub MOA (3/4 or less on memory) with Hornady Precision Hunter.

I like it a lot. I went with 3-10 with their forceplex illuminated reticle (model c611). Most of the hunting in NE is close with rare shots going out to maybe 300 yards. Glass is great and turrets track in the lmited testing I did. I dont think you can go wrong with them for hunting. I paid $840 shipped from sport optics.

I purchased a used Browning Sako Safari about 10 years ago for my wife. Was a 243win. but like most guns....who ever had it didn't take care of the bore and the barrel was all pitted inside. I rebuilt it duplicating the Sako Safari contour but .600" muzzle at 22" instead of the original .550" muzzle ad fitted a custom front sight and reinstalled the original rear sights. So iron sights for back up. Now it's in 260 Rem. and bedded the original stock. With out the scope it weighs 7.5#. With the scope and ammo it weighs 9# even. Accuracy is outstanding and you can carry it all day long.

I used my AIAT last year in 6.5CM for deer season! :)

Later, Frank
Bartlein Barrels

I’ve hunted with many different setups. None of them what most people consider “traditional” but I have more fun this way. Mostly deer and pig. Spot and stalk. Lots of walking. Does it suck sometimes with the weight? Sure. Get in better shape. I’ll use lightweight rifles when I can’t carry these anymore. Having said that I’d never hunt without a tripod or a top tier scope again, regardless of weight.
For the NRL hunter series just shoot what you want.

When you add clip on night optics / rangefinders etc is when stuff gets real

I was just curious since I don’t know a lot about scopes and I see that it has a fixed parallax .... not sure if it will effect accuracy out to 500 but thank you!!

Nice set ups! (y)

Not going to win any awards for deepest pockets here, but this is my $300 knockabout bunny gun (16" .223Rem). I wonder if I can flute out 9.1oz...

FWIW it's legal in my state for elk and smaller too. 🤫 😁

Remington custom 260 rem. Just bought a trigger tech to upgrade too. Also going to change scope to a Luepold vx5hd.

Second is a Rem 700 LSS. 243 win. Had the trigger tuned and glass bedded. Has a Leica ER scope on it.

Third is 30-06 I bought of the PX section. Winchester action, jewel trigger, McMillan htg stock. Excited to get that one out and hunting.
