Whats a 550b worth? As pictured with a .223 setup only. I have extras but thinking about upgrading to a 750.
A buddy is interested in it, but im not looking to give it away either market value is my question.

I was just looking for tool heads for my 550 last month, found a 550 with three tool heads, powder drop and two caliber conversions for what four tool heads would have cost from Dillon. Now I have two 550s. Anyone that buys a rock chucker right now instead of a used 550 is a retard IMHO.

I bought mine used with everything I needed to make handgun calibers in 1995 for $250.

The reason you don't find many used for sale is because folks who have them hang onto them. The guy who sold me mine was buying a 650. Within a year he was offering me a lot more than $250 to buy his old one back.

No sale; it's my only press, then and since.

At one point, I sold shares in my press to our MCL Shooting team. We all used it for about three years. I sold them shares because I wanted them to treat it like they owned it; which they did, and did. Then I moved NJ to NY, buying back all the shares. They bought a 650. Later, several told me that they missed the 550b.

It's easy to use in single stage mode; or in partial progressive mode, which is how I usually do. The 650 isn't, apparently. I don't like the Dillon Auto Powder Measure, so I bought an RCBS Chargemaster Lite. It dovetails right in with the 550b.

My advice; don't sell it before you figure out whether you really want to be anchored to that 750.

Don't know if it helps but as a buyer I try to stick to 60-75% of new prices. I paid $250 for a 550 ready to go in 9mm a few months ago. Sometimes a deal is to good to pass up. $400 would not be unreasonable with dies, maybe a little more.

    $176 Shipped and insured? ?‍♂️ j/k

I really like my 550B, good machines, nice that you can do single stage while fine tuning adjustments and the powder measure (I use Dillons) I am not familiar with the other models.

I have 3 presses. 2 singles and the 550. I only make 9 and .223 on the 550 and tbh only .223 for a few years cause 9 was cheap.

i have contemplated 6.5cm on it, but not sure how much variance ill get with it.
