I have a SFP scope. It is the Steiner P4Xi 1x4. It has a great bright red dot.
So, when I adjust diopter (not much) it throws the downrange focus off which is very noticeable for seeing at distance. Also the reticle and the red dot have to have the diopter adjusted differently for each. Not so noticeable during the day, but very noticeable at night. So I have diopter marks on my scope for day and night.

So, is this normal that that the downrange focus is soft when you adjust your diopter for the reticle?

Is it also normal for the diopter setting to be different for the reticle and the red dot?

I don't know anything about Steiner scopes but if I experienced that I would not trust it. Once my trust is lost in something it has to go. That's my advice.
