To determine the direction of twist (L or R), I simply remove the bolt, look down the barrel from the bore, and look to see which direction the rifling is spinning, correct? As opposed to looking from the muzzle end. Hope its not too stupid a question, but I want to make sure I get it right and my assumptions are correct.

Thanks.

You gotta watch out that your smith doesn't chamber the wrong end of your barrel blank.* You could end up with the wrong direction of twist.................

It doesn't matter which end you look through. Whether clockwise or counter-clockwise, the twist will appear the same either way.
